The weekend will end fairly nice today. There will be lots of sun to start with at least, with highs reaching near 20°C. We'll likely see some thicker cloud move in later in the day with a small chance of a shower. Little to no accumulation is expected if showers do occur. Tomorrow looks nice as well with highs just above 20°C with a mix of sun and cloud and a very small chance of an isolated sprinkle.
Winds pick up Tuesday from the west with gusts to 60 km/h possible at times. Highs in the high teens are expected.
Hopefully the grass gets green from the rain yesterday.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the grass quit brownish, that will almost definitely help

DeleteOk, that's much better then rob's blog-he has it on no matter what.
DeleteI like the new weather history section of the blog.:}
ReplyDeleteJJ,
ReplyDeleteout of all the models you use witch one is the most accurate?
It's hard to say which are most accurate. Each weather model has its good days and bad days.
DeleteFor short term forecasts, I prefer the NAM. Simply based on my personal experience, it has been fairly reliable compared to other weather models I have used. This is especially apparent with temperatures I find. The GEM tends to be too warm for nighttime temperatures in the warmer months for instance.
Unfortunately, I don't have specific statistics on model accuracy. Although I personally prefer the NAM, some other people will say differently.
What about longterm models?
DeleteI prefer the nam in the short range as well. I find it's not great for precipitation, but otherwise is fairly good. In the long range the ecmwf is generally considered to be best. Personally I don't favour a particular model in the long range, rather I look at all of them and go with whichever one looks best for a particular situation.
DeleteClick on my name and theres a link to my favourite model-GFS.
ReplyDeleteTo bad the cloud cover came in this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteYeah, we probably would have gotten to 22 if it weren't for that deck of cirrus clouds.]:
DeleteDamn it all, the radar isn't working.
ReplyDeleteNow i can't track the storm in BC. Dg nab it
DeleteHow's this: at 11:00 PM it's 17 and the daytime high today was 21.
ReplyDeleteNote the ''current weather news'' section on the right is not updating today. Blogger made some more changes overnight and it looks like there's some bugs.
ReplyDeleteJust looking at the long range and the end of the week looks quite interesting. Powerful colorado low expected to move into Minnesota Thursday and Friday. If the track of the low becomes more northerly this could impact Southern Manitoba with very heavy rain and strong winds making it for quite the miserable end to the week coupled with the much colder more October like temperatures that will be in place as well. Not a given but something to watch over the next couple of days.
ReplyDeleteLooks like September will finish with an average mean temperature of about 15.4°C which would tie for 8th warmest September on record since 1872... and about 2.5°C above normal. Depending on how warm we get this afternoon we may even get to crack at an average of 15.5°C but we'll see. Will have the monthly summary tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteActually got a decent rain last night. It poured here in the south end around midnight. Picked up 4.4 mm at my place with 3.6 mm in Charleswood. September summary to come later this afternoon. Will be brief.
