Thunderstorms to the west, north and south of Winnipeg yesterday morning dumped copious amounts of rainfall, which would have been nice to have here in Winnipeg too! Here's some rainfall totals via Cocorahs and Environment Canada:
Carberry ................ 49.2 mm
Winnipeg Beach .... 48.3 mm
Green Ridge .......... 30.7 mm (near Dominion City)
Steinbach .............. 25.7 mm
Sundown ............... 23.4 mm
Neepawa ............... 21.6 mm
Emerson ............... 11-17 mm
Gimli ...................... 16.0 mm
Brandon ................. 13.4 mm
Only 1.0 mm fell here in south St Vital bringing my monthly total to a measly 23.7 mm so far.
There will be the risk for thunderstorms across southern Manitoba later today, first in western areas this afternoon then pushing east this evening, reaching the RRV by evening. Severe storms will be possible with all modes of severe weather possible.
There will be a secondary risk for storms tomorrow associated with the cold front. An isolated severe storm is possible with this again.
Unfortunately we did not reach 30°C yesterday, which ends our 30°C streak at 5 days and our heat wave (days of 32°C +) at 4 days long. This is the longest 30°C streak and heat wave since July 2011 and longest in August since 2003.
Things will be cooling down behind the cold front tomorrow. We will struggle to exceed 20°C on Sunday. Thankfully this will be shortlived as we get back into a warm flow of air starting Monday, bringing back summer. We very well could see another 30°C day or two next week.
