Remaining Mild For Now

Seine River; April 11, 2015
Fabulous day yesterday across southern Manitoba and Saskatchewan! Official high at Winnipeg airport was 22.1°C, a few degrees shy of the old record of 25.0°C in 1968. Hot spot in Manitoba was Bede at 23.3°C (Manitoba Agriculture station). Hot spot in Canada was Estevan, Saskatchewan at 23.4°C!

Cooler today as we remain under a lot of cloud cover. Can't rule out some showers this afternoon and evening. We'll reach mid teens for a high. There will some strong westerly winds this afternoon.

Much sunnier tomorrow, but with strong westerly winds again. We should reach around 13-14°C for a high.

Decent amounts of sunshine on Tuesday. We should manage to reach high teens.

Another warm one on Wednesday. Highs will depend on how much cloud cover there is. If there is enough sun, another 20°C day is likely.

  1. Note that the 1981-2010 normal first 20°C of the year is April 20, so we were only just over a week earlier than normal this year. Much earlier than in 2013 (May 6) and 2014 (May 10).

  2. Is that John Bruce bridge or the Tremblay bridge near Happyland Park in the picture? Yeah it was a beautiful day that's for sure! I was at both those bridges in the past two days! John Bruce bridge on the long way to St Vital Centre Friday and yesterday I was on the Tremblay bridge on my way to watch the Jets game at the Norwood Hotel bar!

    1. It's the John Bruce Bridge south of Bishop Grandin. Love the trails along the Seine :)

  3. Same! I normally take Bishop Grandin Greenway from Southdale to St Vital mall but follow the trails along the Seine this time :)

    1. No lightning recorded. Maybe it was the wind? A gust front just went through not long ago with some very strong gusts.

  5. Close call for 20°C today... Possible we may only reach about 19°C. 20°C day very likely tomorrow though. In fact, I'm anticipating something similar to last Saturday with a high around 22-23°C. We may come close to the old record of 24.1°C in 2006, but I think that'll be a stretch to break that one.

  6. Another 20°C day officially in Winnipeg today with a high of 20.5°C at the airport as of 4 pm. Looking like a fairly close call to that record tomorrow based on the latest updates with 22-24°C likely. I am concerned about the winds expected with southerly winds sustained as high as 50 km/h with gusts of 60-80 km/h. Going to be a very high fire risk tomorrow... Keep that in mind if you're out!

    1. By the way, relative humidity down to 15% today... The lowest I could find since 1953 was 10% on April 30, 1977.
